Since starting on Outschool, there are two questions that I receive more often than any others. 1. What should I teach? 2. How much can I make?
I want to address that second question today, because it has been exciting for me to see the results of my work over the past month.
Here is a breakdown of my first month of Outschool.

Grand total for my first four weeks….. $219.10. Each class is 30 minutes, so that was 4 total hours of work. That’s roughly $55 per hour.
You might be wondering how much work I spent outside of the actual class time to prepare for these classes. If I had to estimate, 2 hours would be close to the answer. What I did during those 2 hours is significant though.
For the color class, I had to buy colored dye and water glasses. I also had to find my lab coat in a mess of Halloween costumes. For the Girl Chat class, I needed to find ice breaker questions online. As it turned out, the first Google result was exactly what I needed! My farm class took most of my time. I wanted to show pictures of patterns, but since I’m using a MacBook Pro now, I couldn’t just open PowerPoint and do what I wanted to do. Downloading and using Keynote turned out to be easier than I thought, but when I was all finished with the slides I ran into some issues. About an hour of my time went to just solving that issue, but once it was fixed, I was ready to go!
Now that I have these classes up and running, they are set for repeat. Girl Chat is set to happen once a week. The Color class has taken place almost every week since I started. I decided to pull it back a little and put the Farm class into rotation during the last week.
I’m thrilled at the success that I’ve had in my first month with Outschool. If you want to know more about how they pay teachers and Outschool’s “cut” check out my YouTube video “How Much Will I Make“.
